In discussion with Micheal Avery and Ronak Gopaldas on our Business Day article; As in 1989, all the factors are lined up for a huge political moment in which we examine three macro pendulum swings re-shaping geopolitics in the wake of the multiple 2020 global crises; specifically: the shift from democracy to populist authoritarianism; the shift from neoliberal capitalism to financial socialism; and the shift from globalisation to nationalism.
